In today’s world computers are used in almost every field such as engineering, architecture, mechanical, electronics, etc to power up the work and making the work easy to perform, they reduce the time, manpower, cost and make any task easy to do, so by their usage and categories the computers are divided into three main types they are:
- Digital Computers
- Analog Computers
- Hybrid Computers
1. Digital Computers:
The digital computers work upon discontinuous data Mechanism. They convert the data or data signal into digital form (binary digits 0 and 1) and all the operations are carried out on these digits. Digital computers are much faster and accurate then Analog computers, computers used for scientific applications and in most of the businesses are digital computers.

1. Embedded Computers :-
Embedded computers are the smallest computers which are embedded within the circuitry of various devices like in washing machines, wrist watches, digital cameras, televisions, etc. These computers are typically programmed for some specific tasks. They are used in applications like microwaves for holding and switching different frequencies, etc.
2. Micro Computers :-
The micro computers are the computers whose CPU are the microprocessors. A microprocessor is a processor in which all the components like registers , capacitors , transistors etc are combined on a single integrated circuit chip. They are mostly single user systems. Some of the examples of micro computers are PDA (Personal Digital Assistant), Workstations, Desktop computers etc.
3. Mini Computers :-
Mini computers are the computers which are capable of handling and using more input devices in it, they are more powerful in terms of processing speed and handling multiple tasks in compression to micro computers, micro computers are mainly multiusers systems that are used to handle multiple users simultaneously to work with it in a single system, they are also called mid-range servers. Some of the examples of mini computers are 7500 MAGNUM, VAX, PDP-11 etc.
4. Mainframe Computers :-
Mainframe computers are the computer works for a large usage and is designed for holding large volume of data and information to process it simultaneously with the help of multiprocessors they are more expensive and larger computers in term of size which have greater processing speed and very large storage capacity these computers works with more than one processor at the same time. They can support and work with more then hundred users at the same time, in other words we can say that they are multiusers, multiprocessors systems. Some of the examples of mainframe computers are VAX 8842, ICL 39, IBM 4381 etc.
5. Super Computers :-
Super computers are the most powerful computers in the digital computers they are able to do huge amount of calculations at an instant of time which are beyond human capabilities, super computers is the most powerful computer ever till this era as they are used to provide large communication medium, in various broadcasts , in contacting with satellites, in nuclear science, in weather forecasting etc they are the digital computers which are most expensive in price around 15-20 million dollar range. Some of the examples of super computers are PARAM, Aaditya, Param Yuva 2, IBM Summit, Titan etc.
2. Analog Computers :-
Analog computers are the computers in which continuous quantities and aspects are used and in which calculation or computation are carried out in physical quantities such as time, temperature, mass, voltage, current, length, force, light intensity etc, the devices that manages these physical quantities are called analog devices such as ammeter, voltammeter, thermistors etc.
3. Hybrid computers :-
Hybrid computers are the computers which is made up by combining of both analog computer and digital computer parts and which have both of the properties of analog and hybrid computers these computers support both physical and virtual quantities to be measured during calculation and perform best for giving a great result of combination, these computers are moreover used in hospitals in measuring blood pressure, heart beat etc.
